On the forthcoming EP Low Modes, Penzias and Wilson explores the seven musical modes rooted on the note A-flat. Sonata Agita tackles perhaps the most difficult of these mode: Locrian.
The starting chord of a Locrian mode is full of tension that needs to be resolved. Throw in some drum loops, ambient guitars and a plaintive violin melody, Sonata Agita leans into this tension.
